The Best Medicine
As well as buying nice things to make me feel good - which I did a lot, and which is why my credit card looks so well worn! - I found that laughter really is the best medicine (going to the gym and eating healthily are also good for you, but not nearly as fun).
Even when things have been tough, I've tried to stay as positive as I can, and I've always found something to smile about. One thing that having cancer teaches you is that life is far too short, so why waste it by feeling miserable? Even the times when my wig's fallen off, or my 'chicken fillet' has risen up above my neck line for all to see, I have seen the funny side (and if nothing else, such incidents have caused great amusement to the readers of my blog!)
Here are just a few of the jokes that kept me smiling - I hope they make you smile too (even just a little bit!):
Larry La Prise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Cokey" died peacefully at age 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin.
They put his left leg in... and then the trouble started
Why are pirates called pirates?
They just arrgghh!!
(that one was a favourite of mine when I started wearing my bandana)
A new middle east crisis erupted last night as Dubai Television was refused permission to broadcast 'The Flintstones'.
A spokesman for the channel said....
'A claim was made that people in Dubai would not understand the humour, but we have heard that people in - Abu Dhabi Do.'
And the latest clean one to amuse me (thanks to Gareth):
My friend's got a new russian girlfriend. It took her 4 days to hoover the house...................turns out she's a Slovac!!
