Feeling Hot Hot Hot

🎵 Feeling Hot Hot Hot — Arrow 🔥🤣

Before I start I will clarify that this isn’t because I’m back to my youthful self and looking fabulous, it’s because I keep randomly overheating like a malfunctioning old boiler 🫣🤣

Can you believe we’re in June already?

I’m not quite sure where May went. Actually that’s a lie, most of it went on worrying about what’s to come, the surgery, recovery, sleeping, drains and trying not to overdo things.

Speaking of which, I have finally left the house this weekend 🎉

Nothing particularly exciting from your perspectives I’m sure:

I finally got my nails done, which instantly made me feel more human because they were starting to look decidedly unsightly – it’s amazing how much better you feel when something small makes you feel a bit more like yourself again.

Between the surgery bra, comfy clothes, no make-up and generally spending most of my time horizontal, a fresh set of nails felt surprisingly exciting for me! 😆

I also managed a quick trip to B&M, although my daughter insisted on carrying everything so I behaved myself and resisted the urge to pretend I was perfectly fine.

Then today I even made it out for a coffee ☕

Sadly, every time I do something that seems completely normal and fairly insignificant, my body has other ideas.

A quick coffee?

Exhausted.

A wander round B&M?

Exhausted.

Getting my nails done?

Exhausted.

Apparently my body is still very much in recovery mode, even if my brain keeps trying to convince me otherwise.

The other thing I’ve noticed is that I’m permanently hot. I thought it was because of the glorious sunshine that we’ve been having but it’s not that. It’s more “why am I suddenly sweating when everyone else seems perfectly comfortable?” hot 🔥🫣 even sat still having my nails done, my head was pouring with sweat 😥

Naturally I did what every sensible person does (not) and Googled it. Apparently due to the anaesthetic, the medication, the healing process and my body generally trying to work out what on earth has just happened to it, random hot flushes and sweats are fairly common after surgery which is reassuring.

So tomorrow’s plan is wonderfully boring, I’m doing absolutely nothing except rest.

The next appointment is on 9th June when I start physiotherapy to make sure my arm and shoulder don’t stiffen up, which feels like another little milestone on the road back to normality.

For now though, you’ll find me on the couch or in bed, trying not to do too much, wondering how a coffee and a trip to B&M can require the same recovery time as climbing Snowdon 😆

Sam x ❤️

ps : nail pic to follow cos you know you want to see them!
