Living with Molly: Here We Go Again!

Finally, we have some dates for Save Sam Plan V2 and suddenly it all gets real again! The appointments have all been written down on a.single sheet of crisp white paper, the chaperoning has been allocated between the other half and the kids, and the papers been stuck to the fridge like a social calendar no one wants to have 😬

Next Wednesday morning starts with a group chat at Maggie’s centre about what’s to come and what support will be offered, followed in the afternoon by the breast clinic explaining the treatment and next steps face to face. Thursday brings my heart check (ECG), Saturday is my bloods and then, on Monday 10 August at 8.30am, chemotherapy officially begins.

So there we are then 🤣

In preparation for the battering my body is about to take, I’ve been going to the gym and this afternoon I went swimming for the first time in yonks. I know that a few lengths of the pool are not going to transform me into an Olympic athlete before the chemo starts, but I’m going to try going into this as strong as I can be, both physically and mentally.

I had a very wholesome morning with my sister today too. We went to an enormous charity shop in search of bargains and came away with homeware and no clothes. Shock horror!

To clarify: shock horror is the fact I didn’t buy any clothes – not me saying that we we took our clothes off and went naked before we left – I mean nobody needs that image in their heads! 🫣🤣🤣🤣

On the total opposite end of the whole getting physical scale, all this excitement and anticipation has become a little too much for our Chief. He’s got his head firmly down, pretending there’s absolutely nothing to see and recovering from the exhausting responsibility of seeing off every Amazon driver and postie who has dared approach the house in the last few weeks since I’ve been off work and developed a slightly obsessive online-shopping habit. He’s worn out!

So the dates are in, the wheels are turning and, although I can’t pretend I’m looking forward to what comes next, I am relieved that we’re finally moving.

Right then. Let’s do this 💪🥊❤️
