Poc a Poc

Poc a Poc is the unofficial motto of Menorca.

Bit by bit/Slowly/Day by day.

I didn’t know that before this weekend but I love it and I don’t think I could have found a better phrase for where I’m at right now!

We’ve just got back from three days in Menorca and it was exactly what I needed before the chemo cycle begins. There was no rushing around and no pressure to tick off a load of tourist attractions. It was just beautiful little harbours, clear blue sea, lovely food and a chance to just breathe.

On day 2 we walked to the capital and wandered around Mahón harbour, doing what everyone does- admiring the boats we fancied but need a lottery win to afford.

One in particular caught my eye and as we got closer I noticed her name.

Mamma Mia.

Of all the names, of all the boats in the world, ot has to be that one. Here we go again – just too fitting.

Then on our last day,we watched her sail quietly past. Maybe it was coincidence but maybe it wasn’t. Maybe she was simply wishing us well as we head into the next chapter.

The mini break was a reminder to me that life doesn’t have to be about racing to the finish line – it’s good to slow down and sometimes it’s enough just to keep moving. I’ve often said getting through tough times is just about putting one foot in front of the other. One step at a time 👣

Poc a Poc/ Bit by bit/Slowly/ Day by day.

That’s exactly how I’ll be tackling whatever comes next.

PS Sadly since being home I’ve been wiped out with a sore throat and achiness – do I blame the husband who’s just had a cold or the plane for the nasty air conditioning?! Either way I need to get rid of it before the first Christie appointment this week.
