🎵James – Getting away with it (all messed up!) (https://youtu.be/pryXcheOm3A?si=T6ra429Tujk2h4Kv)
Well guys and gals, the lion is awake!
Despite getting up in the middle of the night and throwing up for an hour, which I am firmly blaming on a dodgy Chinese rather than anything remotely chemo related, I woke up this morning feeling great. Like, actually great and ready to take on what’s to come. I did warn you this was going to be a roller coaster of honest emotions and I think we can safely say now, that I wasn’t wrong! If you’re still happy to ride along with me, keep reading 🙂
My son took me to chemo, everything went exactly to plan and, so far, I appear to be getting away with it. No side effects today. I know they will be lurking around the corner, but today is today and so I’ll take it.
I thought I’d share a few pics so you can see what it’s like – the canula in the hand and the chemo line going in (this is me wanting you to get an understanding without you ever having to go through it!

Then tonight, rather than retiring to my sick bed like a proper poorly person, me and the husband went on a date night to see James: Getting Away With It at the local cinema and it was fab! It wasn’t just a documentary about the last 40 years, they were also playing live, broadcast across cinemas, and it was bloody brilliant.
Songs that suddenly felt like they had new meaning, old memories remembered and new ones made. After chemo this morning, sitting there tonight with the husband felt like a pretty perfect way to end the day. There’s something quite heart warming about music you’ve carried with you for years becoming part of another chapter of your life, especially this slightly bonkers chapter. James have been part of the soundtrack to both our lives for years, and watching all their ups and downs, the good bits, the bad bits, the falling apart and somehow putting it all back together again! Very poignant!
It’s got me thinking and reflecting loads, so expect a few James songs appearing around here over the next few blogs, and for tonight, Getting Away With It feels especially appropriate.
It’s probably the closest song title I can find to winging it, which, when I think about it, is pretty much what I’ve done my whole life – but haven’t we all?
For today, at least, I seem to be getting away with chemo without any side effects too. So I’ll take that win (win my way I win my way – which is actually ‘wimoweh’ but I miss-hear lyrics all the time!) Which also brings me nicely to the tattoo on my foot – pic below
Laid, by James, is a favourite song so I had part of the lyrics tattooed on my foot a few years ago – except the actual lyric is ‘with passionate love’ I realised later after this was done – hey ho!

More tomorrow, including the important business of showing you the wigs I’ve acquired so far. 😂
For tonight, I bid you goodnight.
The lion is definitely awake and I am definitely getting away with it today! 🦁❤️
