Born of Frustration

Well, I appear to have got away relatively lightly with chemo this week. Until Friday, there wasn’t really that much of an impact apart from feeling a bit more tired than normal.

Friday arrived and so did the feeling that someone was crushing my head in a vice while simultaneously putting my stomach through a full washing machine spin cycle. So I admitted defeat and stayed in bed for pretty much the entire day, eventually emerging at about 5pm just in time to wave the husband and Chief off to the pub – alright for some!

Since then, though, I’ve mainly just been tired. I had another couple of hours asleep yesterday afternoon and woke up right as rain again. So, all things considered, I can’t complain.

Obviously, this meant I needed to create a completely unnecessary drama elsewhere, this time with my hair!

Its still not fallen out and, having spent the last couple of weeks dark, I’d had enough and got frustrated with it. The husband hated it and, more importantly, I just didn’t feel like me. So I decided I wanted to be blonde again. Simple enough, you’d think, except this is me and also to be fair going from dark to blonde is a lot harder than the other way round (especially cos i was doing it myself – will i ever learn?!).

I bleached it. It went rather yellow/orange. I decided a purple mask would sort that out, no drama, but unfortunately, I am now sporting an interesting combo of blonde, grey and purple that with barely any hair on my head anyway, looks decidedly weird!

However, somewhere underneath the purple/grey/blonde, I can see me coming back and i realised that matters. Cancer and chemo get to change enough things without me voluntarily looking in the mirror and wondering who the dark-haired woman staring back at me is. it was ok when i thought it was going to fall straight out but as its not i’ll keep ‘me’ for a bit longer! weird or not!

There is, of course, every possibility that after all this bleaching, toning, masking and general colour drama, chemo will finally decide to take the bloody lot next week anyway after the third lot I’m having on Monday. Which would be typical after all this faffing about with it!

Anyway, I’m all ready for tomorrow – had my bloods done on Saturday and I feel positive this weekend!

love to you all and hope you’re enjoying this sunshine after the recent rain!
