About me & my blog

I’m Sam, a northern girl, wife and mum, who 18 years ago fought breast cancer… and, apparently I did such a good job of it that I’ve been invited back for a second round.

Back in 2008, I found myself navigating an aggressive breast cancer diagnosis and wrote my way through it. It started as something just for me, but along the way it helped others too, which made it all feel a little more worthwhile.

Fast forward to now, April 2026… and somehow, I’m here again.

This time it’s breast cancer round two, a sequel I definitely didn’t ask for, but one I’ll face the same way I did before: with honesty, humour, and a refusal to sugar-coat the reality of it.

This blog will once again be my space to share updates, thoughts, the good days, the tough ones, and everything in between, partly so I don’t have to repeat myself a hundred times, but mostly to make sense of it all as it happens.

And this time, there’s a bit of a soundtrack too.

Music has a way of capturing what words sometimes can’t, so I’ll be adding a song to posts along the way, building a completely unplanned, definitely chaotic playlist that reflects the journey. Some will make sense, some probably won’t… but that feels quite fitting.

So… here we go again.
